Bard Graduate Center Logo Object Hour: Library Special Collections Highlights

The BGC library has recently acquired, by donation, Le Antichità di Ercolano Esposte, the first attempt to catalog the buildings and antiquities excavated at Herculaneum and Pompeii, under the patronage of Charles III. Published between 1757–1792, these highly illustrated volumes are an important source in the development of neo-classical art. In this hands-on session, Professor Jeffrey Collins will discuss the history and significance of these rare volumes.
