Bard Graduate Center Logo Object Hour with Colin Fanning

Join PhD Candidate Colin Fanning for an Object Hour on Tuesday, February 26, at 12:15 pm. Object Hours are hosted by BGC faculty and PhD students who offer an in-depth exploration of an object from the Study Collection or from their personal collection. This Object Hour will be centered on the Clark Irish Harp, an instrument produced in the early twentieth century in Syracuse, New York. The session will frame the harp in a longer history of luthiery and explore the role of instruments as loaded symbols of cultural, national, or professional identity. Through close looking and handling, we will consider how musical objects prompt intriguing theoretical questions for scholars of the material past.
