We will have two Materials Days this spring! The first will be a ceramics workshop at BKLYN Clay, on Saturday, March 16, from 1–3 pm, and the second will be a weaving workshop with artist Jessie Mordine Young (BGC MA, ’21), on Sunday, April 14, from 12–4 pm.

At BKLYN Clay’s Tribeca studio, students will be given an introduction to the studio, the ceramics making process, and learn the basics of wheel throwing. Each participant will get the opportunity to create an object which you’ll be able to take home

At Jessie Young’s Bushwick studio, students will learn the basics of loom weaving from warping the loom, to drafting a design, and to basic tapestry techniques. Each student will leave this class with a small wall-hanging or “woven drawing.” Students will also receieve a PDF full of resources for further learning based on a brief presentation on history given at the start of the workshop, with an option to buy a Loom Kit.

Spots are limited for both workshops. Please RSVP to julia.cullen@bgc.bard.edu to sign up.
