Alexandra Brondex
Manufacture nationale de Sèvre
The Manufacture nationale de Sèvre, renowned worldwide for its prestigious porcelain, was born in the dungeon of a castle near Paris. In its early days, the secret of porcelain was kept only by a few insiders. This practice survives today, embodied by the manufacture’s 120 craftsmen. In this talk, Alexandra Brondex (Head of Public Services and Educational Action at Sèvres) will explore a history of social, technical, and organizational developments at the Manufacture. Discover a side of porcelain that you’ve never expected!
Holding a Master’s degree in English and in Art History, from the École du Louvre in Paris, Alexandra Brondex is the Head of Public Services and Educational Action at Sèvres – National Manufacture and Museum. After a 17-year teaching career, she decided to fully dedicate herself to her passion for art history and cultural mediation. For the past six years, she has been working at Sèvres, managing all visitors to both the Sèvres porcelain Manufacture and the National Ceramics Museum. She leads projects aimed at underserved audiences: educational kits for schools, exhibitions in hospitals, arts and cultural education projects
