Sightline: Jessica Lynne
A special event in conjunction with the BGC exhibition SIGHTLINES on Peace, Power, and Prestige: Metal Arts in Africa

In the spirit of the exhibition title, Bard Graduate Center has invited writer and critic Jessica Lynne, to create her own “sightline,” exploring the ways in which she sees the works on view through time, form, and space. She will reflect on the spiritual potencies of water, Black memory and cultural retention, and home as a site of care and intimacy. A selection of film clips, songs, and interviews will be used as a response to and in conversation with her selected “sightline.”

Additional “sightlines” events with novelist Maaza Mengiste, composer JJJJJerome Ellis, and choreographer Okwui Okpokwasili will follow on November 1, November 15, and December 13.

Visitors can also experience the sightlines, along with others created by exhibition curator Drew Thompson, lead gallery educator mary adeogun, and BGC / Brooklyn Museum fellow Annissa Malvoisin, at listening stations in the gallery and via BGC’s podcast.
