Spring Exhibitions Open February 17!

Shaped by the Loom: Weaving World in the American Southwest invites you to explore the world of Navajo weaving. This dynamic gallery and online experience will present never-before-seen textiles created by Diné makers. These rare blankets, garments, and rugs from the American Museum of Natural History’s collection will be situated alongside contemporary works by modern-day textile artists such as Barbara Teller Ornelas and Lynda Teller Pete.

Staging the Table in Europe 1500–1800 offers a window into the culinary spectacle of Europe’s early modern age. The exhibition explores the dining customs and fashions of the time through illustrated manuals and handbooks used by cooks and other servants, and it sheds light on the culture of elaborate performance that surrounded the preparation and presentation of food. Rare books, knives, carving sets, table linens, and other objects from the late Middle Ages to the end of the eighteenth century reveal how the practices of “staging the table” inspired wonder.

Spring programs and lectures will be announced soon!
