Because you visited Sèvres Extraordinaire: Sculpture from 1740 until Today, we wanted to extend a special invitation to a presentation by celebrated ceramic artist Kristin McKirdy, whose work is featured in the exhibition. She will tell the story of her four-year artist residency at the Manufacture national de Sèvres and share the various stages of her experience from preliminary research through the development and execution of several porcelain projects made in collaboration with the institution’s master craftspeople. McKirdy will also give insight into the manufactory itself, a historic institution where perfect ceramic pieces are made in a timeless setting, using traditional techniques unchanged since the eighteenth century.
