Making Quilts / Tending Community
The Mr. and Mrs. Raymond J. Horowitz Book Prize Symposium

In celebration of Lisa Gail Collins’ Stitching Love and Loss: A Gee’s Bend Quilt (2024 Horowitz Book Prize winner), we are hosting a beginner-level quiltmaking workshop for our internal community. Guided by legendary artist Dindga McCannon, this gathering of cloth, creativity, and community will be a rich opportunity for shared conversation and learning, with readings from Collins’ book and other contributions. Space is limited, and preference will be given to participants who can participate for the full day (10:30am to 3pm).

The Mr. and Mrs. Raymond J. Horowitz Book Prize celebrates the best book on the decorative arts, design history, or material culture of the Americas. It rewards scholarly excellence and commitment to cross-disciplinary conversation.

April 10, 2026, 10:30am to 3pm
38 West 86th Street, BGC Lecture Hall
