Work with master goldsmith Jeanette K. Caines to gain a hands-on understanding of why handmade artwork is so essential in an increasingly digital world. Students will spend the class learning to forge bangle and cuff bracelets in brass and copper. Emphasis will be placed on using different hammers to create personalized texture and shape. Participants will gain a greater understanding of how similar tools and materials can yield very different results depending on the hands of the artist and get to wear their works of art home.

Jeanette K. Caines is a master goldsmith with more than 27 years experience. She is the director and owner of Jewelry Arts Inc., the leading jewelry school in New York City and the only center for teaching ancient jewelry-making techniques in the world. An award-winning author of Soldering Demystified, she was featured in a 2016 PBS Nova special “Treasures of the Earth: Metals.”
