Bard Graduate Center Class of 2021 — Congratulations to our New Graduates!

Dear Friends, Members, Colleagues,

After a challenging year, all of us at Bard Graduate Center are extremely proud of the accomplishments of each of our students, and in particular our 2021 graduates! This May, we will be conferring 11 MA degrees and six doctoral degrees. The research topics of this year’s graduate students’ theses span the vast range of periods and geographical areas covered in our discipline — from Bogota to Ceylon, China to France, and from antiquity to modern times:

  • Madison Jane Williams, MA, “Constructing and Reconstructing Authenticity in Catholic Bone Relics”
  • Weixun Qu, MA, “The Afterlife of Lacquer Panels: Transforming Chinese Luxuries into French Furniture”
  • Juliana Fagua Arias, MA, “Fashioning a Colonial Identity: Latin America and the Transpacific Trade”
  • Antonia Behan, PhD, “Craftsmanship as a Mode of Thought: Ethel Mairet and Ananda Coomaraswamy in Ceylon, India, and Britain, 1902–1952”

Your support has helped our students reach this important milestone in their lives. Every single gift that a donor makes to Bard Graduate Center is extremely important. Annual giving sustains the next generation of scholars and provides a strong foundation for BGC graduates to launch careers across the globe in the fields of decorative arts, design history, and material culture.

Join us in celebrating the accomplishment of our students with a generous donation today. Your gift provides our young scholars with the support they need to reach ever more milestones and meet continued success in all their future endeavors.

Congratulations to the class of 2021!
