Happy fall! All of us at Bard Graduate Center hope you are well and enjoying a return to the cultural activities that are meaningful to you. Every day, more venues are opening, restoring the vibrant cultural landscapes throughout the United States. At BGC, our galleries opened to the public in September with the highly anticipated exhibition, Majolica Mania, and our classrooms are once again humming with lively, challenging discussions. BGC students are intensely researching at their carrels among the library stacks or closely examining objects from our study collection. All of this happens thanks to you.
Now that we have reopened, there are new challenges both for the institution and for our students. With this in mind, we hope that you will make a generous contribution to ensure that Bard Graduate Center is stronger than ever as an acclaimed resource for experienced and emerging scholars of decorative arts, design history, and material culture.
Next February, BGC gallery will present Conserving Active Matter, an experimental exhibition conceived by our renowned faculty that asks us to investigate conservation and preservation as an expression of cultural values. In the case of BGC, we can say that through 18 months of responding to the harmful effects of the pandemic, we have maintained the highest standards for research, and through resilience at every level of the organization preserved the institution as an important cultural asset for all residents of New York City and beyond.
As Bard Graduate Center works towards more robust levels of activity and in-person engagement, we hope you will support this process of rebuilding, responding, and preserving what is important to you and to all of us here at Bard Graduate Center.
Thank you for your support!
