Thanks for Joining Us at Sonia Delaunay: Living Art in 2024

Support 2025 at BGC!

Whether you were visiting Bard Graduate Center for the first time, are a neighbor from the Upper West Side, a passionate modern art admirer, or a dedicated fan of decorative arts, Sonia Delaunay: Living Art offered an unforgettable experience—and we’re so glad that you were there to share it with us! This groundbreaking exhibition became the most visited in BGC Gallery’s history, bringing nearly two hundred of Delaunay’s masterpieces, including rare couture garments and furniture, to US audiences for the very first time. Curated by Waleria Dorogova and Laura Microulis, the exhibition blended fine and decorative arts, earning widespread critical acclaim and engaging visitors in new ways through interactive tours, symposia, and educational programs.

At the heart of this success was the exhibition catalogue Sonia Delaunay: Living Art, edited by Dorogova and Microulis, with design by the renowned Irma Boom. Featuring twenty-six chapters of new research, this stunning publication explores Delaunay’s interdisciplinary work, entrepreneurial ventures, and collaborative networks. Named “a shoo-in for most beautiful art book of 2024” by Sebasian Smee, art critic for the Washington Post, the catalogue highlights the impact of our exhibitions on advancing scholarship in art and design.

Original scholarship fuels exhibitions and publications like these, which makes Bard Graduate Center a leader in decorative arts, design history, and material culture. Your support helps us continue to conduct innovative research.

We invite you to help us keep this momentum going by making a year-end gift. Your generosity empowers BGC to sustain exhibitions, publications, and educational programs that shape the future of these fields.
