Happy New Year from Everyone at Bard Graduate Center!

Celebrations of the new year are often full of glamour, fashion, and high style. Bedecked in magenta and pink silks by American couturier Mainbocher, model Evelyn Tripp embodies this mid-century elegance in Vogue. In her new book 1950s in Vogue: The Jessica Daves Years, 1952-1962, Rebecca C. Tuite (BGC MPhil ’12) chronicles the story of how Daves’ editorial vision launched the magazine into the modern era.

Mainbocher’s early career in Paris was altered by World War I, a story that recalls our current exhibition French Fashion, Women, and the First World War. See it before it closes on January 5, 2020! The new year will usher in our highly anticipated Eileen Gray exhibition, opening on February 29, 2020 with a full roster of lectures and events.

Thank you for being an important part of Bard Graduate Center this past year. If you would like to support our research, exhibitions, and public programs, there’s still time to give! A gift in any amount will help make 2020 a success. More information about end of year contributions can be found here.

Happy New Year!
