Alumni Spotlight
Jorge Rivas (PhD ’18) will serve as the inaugural Emily Rauh Pulitzer Deputy Director and Chief Curator at the Saint Louis Art Museum (SLAM). This newly created position, made possible by the generous commitment of museum trustee and former SLAM curator Emily Rauh Pulitzer, will oversee the museum’s curatorial, collection, and exhibition departments. Rivas comes to SLAM from the Denver Art Museum, where he has served since 2016 as the Frederick and Jan Mayer Curator of Latin American Art and Head of the Mayer Center. He will begin his new role in St. Louis in October 2024. Congratulations, Jorge!
Debra Schmidt Bach (PhD ’15) and Mackensie Griffin (MA ’24) curated the Borscht Belt Museum’s new exhibition “And Such Small Portions!”: Food and Comedy in the Catskills Resort Era. Intern and current MA student Janelle Williams (MA ’25) helped install the show. Mackensie also organized a dinner inspired by a 1968 hotel menu to kick off the museum’s annual Borscht Belt Fest. Congratulations, all!
Bob Hewis (MA ’24) recently was appointed visitor experience and house manager of David Parr House in Cambridge. Well done, Bob!
