Racial Justice Workshop

During this racial justice workshop participants will: discuss and commit to community agreements; build a common vocabulary; and reflect on racism and anti-racism through scenarios relevant to their time at Bard Graduate Center. DH/DX Workshop: WordPress Refresh

This workshop looks closely at expanding WordPress through the Divi Builder and Divi Theme, a set of tools that lets users fully customize the look and functionality of websites without any coding knowledge. Working with Divi’s toolkit, participants will learn how to implement advanced layout designs, develop templates, dynamic page content, and integrate multimedia.  This workshop will prove helpful for anyone looking to have more control over the design and functionality of their web-based projects. Led by Jesse Merandy, Director of Digital Humanities/Exhibitions.

Prerequisites: Basic WordPress knowledge.

Image Research Workshop

Digital Collections will be conducting a workshop on Image Research on Friday, October 1. Topics such as using controlled vocabularies to aid in image research, ordering images for academic publishing, and finding image resources for the decorative arts and material culture will be covered. Response Journal Techniques (515. Seminar Series)

BGC’s requirement of keeping a response journal for 10 talks during the course of the MA program encourages students to broaden their  frames of reference historically and methodologically, and also to engage actively with scholarship. This workshop is designed with this requirement in mind, and will offer tips for completing the journal, but also for getting the most out of the seminar series.

DH/DX Workshop: Introduction to Datasets

Datasets come in many shapes and sizes. In this workshop we will start by examining examples of some of the most common data formats that you will find when you download or create datasets including .CSV,  .TSV,  .TXT,  .SQL, .XML and others. We will examine the different open source and publicly available tools available to read, edit, process and analyze the datasets. A .zip file of sample datasets will be provided to attendees to download ahead of the workshop and optional homework follow-up questions will be provided to send to the instructor for feedback and conversation after the class. Sketchup is a web-based 3D modeling program used to design virtual environments and objects that is employed in industries ranging from architecture to video game design. Blender is the free and open source 3D creation suite. It supports the entirety of the 3D pipeline—modeling, rigging, animation, simulation, rendering, compositing and motion tracking, video editing and 2D animation pipeline.
