Dear BGC Students,

We would like to invite you to participate in BGC’s Diversity, Equity, Access, and Inclusion (DEAI) Working Group! The Working Group is a volunteer committee, made up of BGC students, faculty, staff, and alums, dedicated to promoting the values of DEAI throughout the institution. If you are interested in becoming a member please fill out this form by September 13. New and Returning students are both welcome to join!

The aims and objectives of BGC’s DEAI Working Group develop from the interests of the committee members, and we welcome individual initiatives and ideas, as well as collective ones. Last year, the Working Group organized community events such as Object Hours,  exhibit tours, an Adire dyeing workshop, and a food pantry for students during finals. Members also participated in DEAI training and advocated for developing new systems to better identify and support student needs.

What does being a member of the committee entail?

  • The Working Group is a volunteer group but requires a commitment of 1-2 meetings per month during the academic year.
  • Working Group members are asked to commit to participating for the entirety of the term (2 years) and to make their very best efforts to attend all meetings. Graduating students may continue their participation as alums.
  • The group benefits from having a wide variety of skill sets from all parts of BGC and representatives for every department. Interest and commitment are the most valuable attributes for an ideal member!

If you are interested, please fill out this form by September 13. We will determine meeting times which work best for all members. If you have any questions, please contact working group co-chairs Julia Cullen (julia.cullen@bgc.bard.edu) and Amanda Thompson (amanda.thompson@bgc.bard.edu).

We look forward to hearing from you!
