I’m pleased to share the announcement for our 2024 summer program for undergraduates. Annually, we try to introduce advanced undergraduates to an aspect of our study of the spectrum of decorative arts, design history, and material culture. The course is geared towards rising juniors and seniors but open to all undergraduate levels as well as recent graduates. For this year’s focus, professor Freyja Hartzell will lead Designing Utopia. The course will introduce students to modern and contemporary design projects in North America and Europe, from the nineteenth century through today, as a series of utopian projects.
