Bard Graduate Center is excited to announce its 2024 Undergraduate Summer Program in Decorative Arts, Design History, and Material Culture. This year’s course will be Designing Utopia led by professor Freyja Hartzell. Join us in New York City from July 10–23, for a two-week, intensive look at design and revolution. The course will examine modern and contemporary design in North America and Europe as a series of utopian projects. Morning seminars at our Upper West Side location will be followed by afternoon field trips or workshops around New York City. Modeled on our interdisciplinary, object-based graduate curriculum, the course will help students develop research skills through hands-on discovery.

Designing Utopia is eligible for three upper-level undergraduate credits through Bard College. Housing and financial aid available. Applications due April 15.
