School Tours and Educator Guide

This fall, as we enter a major election cycle and reflect on the passage of the 19th Amendment granting American women the right to vote 100 years ago, we invite you and your students to visit Bard Graduate Center Gallery to explore how women’s fashions both reflected and impacted women’s struggle for emancipation, not only in the U.S. but across Europe. The current exhibition, “French Fashion, Women, and the First World War,” provides many opportunities to spark discussions around fashion as a form of self-expression and as a political statement and media representations of gender roles and expectations in addition to the rich history of World War I. Click here to download a PDF of the Educator Guide.

We are currently accepting reservations and encourage you to schedule your visit before all spaces are filled. Book now by calling 212.501.3013 or emailing tours@bgc.bard.edu. For more information visit Gallery Education and Programs.
